#AmbassadorFamily #CulturalLegacy #ForwardTogetherHere’s the bare truth:
2025 was wild, full of beautiful beginnings and hard endings. And it taught me one thing clearly: I own my truth. No one else.

I’m grateful for every lesson. I’m leaving behind what no longer belongs to me. Anything not aligned with God is not coming into my next chapter.

I’m sending love, happiness, and prosperity to you all.
Happy New You. 2026 Let’s Go!

Harlem AmbassadorTribute: It is with deep sadness we mourn the passing of the great Carmen de Lavallade. A true trailblazing pioneer of dance, her extraordinary career spanned more than six decades.

On a personal note, Carmen was a dear and gentle friend. I first met her late husband, the legendary Geoffrey Holder, when I was a teenager. Years later, to my great fortune, I met his beloved wife and soulmate Carmen. We connected immediately—through dance, Harlem, our shared love of Lena Horne, and the fact that we were both Pisces.

Carmen is one of the reasons Ambassador Digital Magazine exists.

At the time, I was producing and editing for another publication and proposed a feature on Carmen. They agreed. At my own expense, I envisioned Carmen not simply as a subject, but as the ultimate muse. Radiant, powerful, surrounded by the premier dancers of Dance Theatre of Harlem. I brought together my friends: photographer Marc Baptiste, hairstylist Steven Rice, makeup artist Kevin McQueen, and designer Xuly Bët. We created something truly special.

When that magazine was released, they rejected the entire story only publishing one cropped image.

I was stunned. Hurt.

When I spoke to Carmen, I told her, “I’m going to start my own magazine.”
She smiled and said, “Go for it. When they say no, we say yes to ourselves.”

In the heart of the pandemic, I did exactly that. I launched Ambassador Digital Magazine, published those photographs, her story, and so many others that needed to be told.

Five years later, we are still here because a Goddess named Carmen believed in us.

Rest, dear Carmen. You have become one of the ancestors. Your work here is complete. Thank you for your wisdom, your beauty, your courage and kindness.

Sending love and prayers to her family and friends.

Ambassador Digital Magazine Editor-in-Chief Musa Jackson interviews one of the “World’s Greatest Entertainers” and the “Original Human Beatbox,” pioneering Hip Hop artist Doug E. Fresh.

Raised in Harlem, New York, Doug E. Fresh went from a local underground phenomenon to a nationally recognized talent after appearing in Harry Belafonte’s 1984 cult classic film “Beat Street.” The following year, he became one of hip-hop’s biggest international stars with the success of his classics “The Show” and “La Di Da Di,” recorded with the great Slick Rick. “La Di Da Di” holds the distinction of being the third most-sampled song in the history of music, used by Mariah Carey, Snoop Dogg, Miley Cyrus, LL Cool J, Will Smith, and more than 1,000 other acts.

Over his nearly 40-year career, Doug E. Fresh has carved his place in music history with the creation of the human beatbox art form, yan enduring legacy that continues to push boundaries. He has performed at the request of U.S. Presidents, foreign dignitaries, and Saints. As a television personality and producer, he has appeared as a performer and musical mentor on Fox’s “American Idol,” hosted HBO’s “Bad Boys of Comedy,” served as a celebrity judge on BET’s “Showtime at the Apollo,” and earned three consecutive executive producer credits for BET’s reprised “Soul Train Awards.”
