I was completely in awe watching Mr. Valentino at work. Earlier, while backstage at Gianni Versace’s couture show at the Ritz Hotel, I learned that Mr. Valentino’s atelier was holding fittings next door. As I waited backstage for the second Versace show to begin, a concierge approached me and handed me a note. I opened it. “Mr. Valentino would like to see you right now.” Me? 😅🫣 I had never met him before. My manager contacted Valentino immediately, they were able to schedule a meeting with Mr. Valentino directly following the Versace show. 1997 was a transformative year.
