Wild & beautiful month full of friends and work and play and sourdough! So lucky to be with 💜 @megfinkelflowerlab in Taos to work on our land 💕 and to visit epic Big Sur with sister @emiliasana , to be at lovely @tiffanypersons birthday celebration, and made my@first loaf from the almost 40 year old sourdough starter my big sister @elizaleighb and Steven gave me when I visited their Virginia oasis. Stopped at @dwpbelmont ‘s house on the way to Taos, and managed to catch Tim and Kate at Manzanita market for lunch just before they left 💛@pumarose gave me and Chris a beautiful actual photo print of her backstage at the 2020 Mark Jacobs show. I missed the celebration of Ken and Flo Jacobs life, but count myself so lucky to have known them and had their education on art and life thanks to Aza. Chris got home after 4 months of tour and I don’t even have any photos of that because I’m too busy being present 🫶🏽 here’s to some very bright days in this dark season. Official last month countdown to winter solstice when the winter begins, but the sun also begins its annual waxing toward us. I find this month to be one of the most challenging every year, as there’s a sense of sitting on my hands not to rush into the next season before I properly sit still and integrate this one.The Fall again. Time to surrender to gravity and integrate the year and all that’s added up to now. So that I can release it all and begin fresh from where I am, leading into the waxing light of the new year when winter solstice comes. Autumn in Topanga. I love you so much Eliza!!Beltane hang in the garden feeling the life and love within us and between us @tiffanypersons (didn’t get your photo!), @summerscottsexton, @raquelallegra, @therealkateshelaMy sister Eliza Leigh. She turned 60 this year! Ever since I was born she took me under her wing, protected, supported, loved and nurtured me. She has always seemed so competent and capable, humbly able to do whatever has needed doing —including one time driving 3 hours in a rain storm to rescue 18 year old me on the side of I95 in Baltimore when my VW rabbit broke down. Eliza looked under the hood and got me to try starting the car a few times and located the electrical short. She taped it up and off we went! She can cook anything, build and fix and restore and beautify anything. Creates a haven of peace, beauty, abundance and comfort in her home and invites her friends and family to come and share it with her and her beloved husband and kitties. My big sister. She’s forgiven me like a saint (like when I threw a wooden block at her head to show off to my friend in kindergarten), shares with me like I’m part of her, always wishing me to visit or to visit me…Eliza makes me feel so loved. I love you Eliza. Thank you for being you. 🥰 @elizaleighbOur house has so far survived. The little mountain across from us is scorched, and too many dear beloveds to list have lost their homes. 😞 I’m posting ways to help on my stories. So many will need help over the next year, so please don’t forget about us, and if possible donate to the collective funds that are distributed amongst the fire survivors. 🙏🏽 I can’t express enough gratitude to the #lafd who showed up and saved #topangacanyon . We would have lost every house without them. Instead we lost very few. We are so grateful the wind favored us and the arsonists in and around Topanga were caught. My heart is with everyone who lost their home, their gardens, their crafts, their ways of helping others, their comforts, their photos and art and tools and records. We will help you rebuild. Hand in 🖐️ 🤚 community is everything in these times I feel so lucky to have my neighbors who did all manner of stepping in during this emergency. May the winds calm. May the rains come. 🙏🏽
